Photographer of the Month ~ Alan Lenk

Although I am from Nashville, TN, I settled in Asheville in 1972 and have worked and lived here been ever since.  I was drawn to the beautiful mountains of western NC.  My most recent job was with Buncombe County Schools serving a Science Curriculum Specialist for over 20 years.  I have always had an interested in flora and fauna, as well as the earth sciences, and enjoy being in nature and observing all it has to offer.   Since retirement in 2009 I have spent most of my time enjoying the outdoors and photographing its treasures. Of particular interest are the birds, especially the warblers, that visit us during the spring, summer, and fall.  They are a challenge to photograph due to their small size and quick movements, but their beauty and behavior justify the effort.   I also enjoy photographing animals and occasionally they are incorporated into landscape photos,  another area of interest. I have my photos on display at Woolworth Walk Gallery in Asheville, Dark City Deli in Black Mtn., and Salon at Liberty Corner in Asheville.  On the web they can be viewed in several categories at alanlenk.pixels.com
